We are proud to be East London's most innovative jazz development organisations showcasing this amazing music in this amazing part of London.
We bring exciting jazz music, educational heritage & cultural programmes into local communities with live music, musician and audience development programmes in pubs, clubs, schools, colleges and unique, unusual and iconic buildings and grassroots music venues.
Delivered in association with The Sonus Jazz Collective, a one-stop network for jazz musicians, professionals, venues and live jazz music festival organisers and promoters, our Jazz East Local Lives events tell the stories of jazz through live experiences across the whole spectrum of all forms of this exciting music known as jazz
We proudly work alongside local musicians, educators, creative and cultural networks and partnerships AND in particular The National Jazz Archive to curate educational programmes that showcase the art, culture and heritage of this amazing music.
Our audiences aren't just current jazz fans...we like to engage with those we affectionately call the "jazz-curious" so we're proud to work on intergenerational projects and programmes that offer fabulous opportunities to get more people involved in jazz-related volunteering, work experience, learning and development and the professional presentation of live jazz music and events.
Our audiences travel from across the UK...so we promise a jazz experience that we'll do our utmost to deliver !
Working alongside the National Jazz Archive and thanks to the very kind support of Essex County Council and Birmingham City University, we have co-developed The Jazz Hub, cultural visitor experiences that brings the story of jazz in the UK to life in a museum-like experience.
The Jazz Hubs provide
We're proud of our professional association with the NJA and actively support their work with the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Association of Independent Museums, the Jazz Promotion Network and the UK's wider network of jazz & popular music academia including schools, colleges, universities and music conservatoires.
2022 is the year we celebrated the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's 70 year reign and where proudly worked with the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham as part of their incredible Summer of Festivals programme, producing jazz music festivals and live jazz music in this bold and dynamic East London borough.
On 4th June 2022, we curated a free and exciting outdoor all-day jazz festival that told the story of 70 Years of Great Jazz in Great Britain...with a distinctly East London flavour!
Held in the iconic Barking Abbey ruins in East London's fastest growing borough, we attracted an local and visiting audience of around 2000 many who had never seen live jazz before!
East London's original one-day jazz festival bringing together musicians, jazz fans and new audiences to celebrate and showcase some of the UK's finest contemporary jazz music.
A mix of free, daytime community jazz music performances followed by an evening of ticketed music from all ends of the jazz spectrum in a grassroots music venue creating or re-creating a vibrant jazz club ambience.
